Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
During Harmony Week, students, staff and families at Box Hill Public School came together to celebrate the strength found in our diversity. Through shared activities, colourful displays and class discussions, we explored what it means to belong and how small acts of kindness make a big difference. Our school values of respect, inclusion and empathy shone brightly as students learned that everyone’s story matters and that together, we create a community where every child feels valued and connected.
This year, Box Hill Public School participated in its very first cross country event — a fantastic day filled with energy, encouragement and school spirit. Students challenged themselves, cheered for their peers, and celebrated the joy of participation. We were especially proud to send our first representatives to the Ridges Zone Cross Country in 2025 — a wonderful achievement in our foundation year. It was a day that showcased determination, teamwork and the beginning of many sporting traditions to come at Box Hill PS.
During NAIDOC Week, students were joined by staff from Brewongle Environmental Education Centre for a day of learning, reflection and celebration. Together, we explored this year’s NAIDOC theme through storytelling, art and hands-on outdoor activities that deepened our understanding of Aboriginal culture and connection to Country. Students loved engaging with nature, asking questions and learning from the visiting educators. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of respect, culture and caring for the land we share.
Book Week at Box Hill Public School was bursting with creativity, colour and imagination! Students and staff brought their favourite stories to life, arriving dressed as beloved book characters—from classic heroes to modern favourites. The day was filled with laughter, storytelling and shared excitement about the joy of reading. It was a wonderful celebration of books, imagination and the power of stories to bring our community together.
Our Kindergarten to Year 2 students had an incredible time participating in gymnastics lessons with Zing Active. Each week, students developed balance, coordination and confidence through fun, structured activities that encouraged persistence and teamwork. The excitement was contagious as students mastered new skills and celebrated each other’s successes. It was a fantastic way to stay active, build strength and have fun while learning!
“The sense of community is strong—even as a new school. Families feel connected and proud.” — Parent, Box Hill Public School
